Kim’s Animal Rescue Raided – ten weeks after moving away from the Costa Del Sol the new shelter is being investigated by the Guardia Civil
Kim’s Animal Rescue Raided
Kim’s Animal Rescue was a well known animal rescue on the Costa Del Sel, which closed ten weeks ago after running into severe financial difficulties. Owner Kim Halliwell has moved most of her animals to a new shelter in Almeria, but has yet to be granted the required permits to run a shelter there.
Denounced
The new shelter in Gador has been denounced by local residents. Neighbours claim that over 100 dogs are starving and being abused. Kim Halliwell has acknowledged the raid. She says that the Guardia Civil’s Seprona animal welfare division has granted permission for 75 dogs to be kept at the site whilst the investigation continues.
Mijas Shelter
Kim’s Animal Rescue in Mijas was put up for sale after Mijas council demanded €20,000 be repaid after loan payments were missed. The premises have recently been sold after being listed for €180,000. Critics of the shelter in Mijas have made accusations of financial mismanagement and animal abuse.
Adana Page is the President of Estepona Animal Shelter, she said “Kim always had problems in Mijas and it looks like she is doing the same thing again in Almeria. She never had the correct licences while she was in Mijas. It gives us all a bad name.”
