Local Ferias Under Threat – Marbella and San Pedro could lose their Ferias this year

Local Ferias Under Threat

The Partido Popular is seeking to cut budgets for local ferias, and reallocate the money to an employment programme.  If the planned cuts go ahead, it would mean that both Marbella and San Pedro would lose their feria events this year.

The Money

President of the Marbella PP Angeles Muñoz is hoping to implement a €2.1 million jobs drive in the area.  €1.2 million of this could come from the budget set aside for the popular local feria events.  Plans for the recruitment and jobs drive have not yet been revealed, but the amendment was approved earlier today  Opposition groups claim that they have not been given enough time to oppose the plans, and will likely raise legal challenges to the budget change.
