Marbella Rail Link Delayed Again. The national government has doubled this year’s investment for Malaga but there is no allocation for the Fuengirola to Marbella rail link.
Marbella Rail Link Delayed Again
The proposed rail link between Fuengirola and Marbella has been delayed again. The project was labelled as “high priority” back in 2017 but little progress has been made. Spain’s national government has just released the budget allocated to Malaga Province for 2022, which has almost doubled to €400 million. However there is no allowance for the railway which would link Marbella and Fuengirola.
2022 Budget Allocations
The money is being spent on a new Provincial Library in the former San Augustin convent, improvements at Malaga airport, refurbishment of the Levante dock at Malaga Port, sanitation works in the Sierra de Ronda area, various police and Guardia Civil projects, and redevelopment of the rail link between Algeciras and Bobadilla.
