The Spanish government has now clarified what will be allowed this weekend, as phase zero of the lockdown lifting continues. From Saturday 2nd May the rules for taking walks are:

  • adults and over 14s are permitted to leave home for personal sport and walks with partners who live together between 06.00 – 10.00 and 20.00 – 23.00 hours
  • people aged over 70 (and those who rely on assistance from others) may be outside from 10.00 – 12.00 and from 19.00 – 20.00 hours
  • children aged 14 and under are permitted outside from 12.00 – 19.00 hours

Adults and those aged over 14 may undertake any sport provided it is a non-contact activity and they are doing it alone, use of bicycles is permitted but one can only do so alone. Entry to sports centres is not permitted. The higher risk group and those aged over 70 can be accompanied by one of their carers.

The same previous conditions apply to walks with children (aged 14 and under) but now only within the times above. This means one adult per three children.

Social Distancing Must Be Observed

These times will permit the population to take fresh air once a day and within only 1km of their homes. All those undertaking the walks can only do so in their own borough (municipio) and must observe the 2m social distancing from others, the strictest hygiene and hand washing. The wearing of masks is recommended.

These times will not apply in boroughs of less than 5,000 inhabitants.
