Roman Baths Excavated In Fuengirola
An archaeological site near Fuengirola will open to the public for tours at the end of January. A Roman villa and baths are currently being excavated in Torreblanca following their discovery more than 15 years ago. The site is one of the largest in southern Spain, measuring 4000 square metres. The attraction will be free to visit, with guided tours and information panels displayed.
Alongside the villa and baths, more than 30 tombs have also been discovered. The site was in use between the 1st and the 5th century, after which time the land was used for salting fish. The excavation project has cost €265,000 and the area is listed as an asset of cultural interest by the Ministry of Tourism.
