See A Partial Solar Eclipse From The Costa Del Sol

A partial solar eclipse will be visible from the Costa Del Sol on Saturday morning (29th March 2025) between 10.30am and 12.30pm.  The Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out about a third of the Sun.  There will be a noticeable reduction in daylight, but not total darkness.  This is the only solar eclipse which will happen this year, the next won’t occur until the 12th August next year.

The weather forecast is good for watching the eclipse, with clear skies expected over the Costa Del Sol.  Click here to see the full forecast.

How To Safely See The Eclipse

Esperts are warning that looking directly at the sun is dangerous, even with shades on.  It’s also unsafe to view the eclipse through binoculars or a telescope.  It is possble to buy special eclipse filters which will allow you to see the phenomenon safely, or you could project the image using the pinhole projection technique. This is a safe and simple method. You can create a pinhole projector using a piece of cardboard or paper.   Then project the Sun’s image onto another surface, and view the projected image. .
