Thousands of people have been left stranded on the Costa Del Sol after the collapse of Thomas Cook yesterday. Will I have to pay to return to the UK?

No, is the simple answer. If you booked a package holiday, you are covered by ATOL and a replacement flight will be sourced and paid for on your behalf. Please do not travel to Malaga airport until you receive notification about your new flight.

If you bought your flights separately, your travel insurance will probably cover the cost of your return to the UK. If you’re not covered, you will need to pay for your own return flight and claim the cost of this back from the government as part of their Operation Matterhorn plan.
