Andalucia could face stricter facemask regulations if the region sees a further increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.  Junta President Juanma Moreno has said that he will not rule out making facemasks compulsory in public places, even where social distancing is possible.  Catalonia and the Balearics have already introduced these conditions.

Local lockdowns in Andalucia are also a possibility, though the president says they are not currently being considered.  Speaking on a visit to the Granada province, Juanma Moreno described local outbreaks as “very much under control”.

Brits Threaten To Quit Spain

Some Brits are already threatening to quit Spain if the facemasks become compulsory.  Anna Clifton from Torremolinos told 93.6 Global Radio “if we’re forced to wear masks everywhere, I’m gone.  I can’t breathe in them.  I’d move back to the UK if this happens”.

However, local resident Teresa Morris would support such a move.  “If it helps stop the virus, it’s a minor inconvenience.  All these people complaining are pathetic and selfish.  The masks are a bit stuffy but they don’t reduce the amount of oxygen we breathe and they certainly can’t be dangerous.
