Red Flags Flying On Benalmadena Beaches

Beaches were closed to bathers in Benalmadena yesterday because a sewage pipe has burst.  The red flags remain in place today between Playa Arroyo de la Miel and Playa Malapesquera as work to repair the pipe continues.  Lifeguards are warning beach users of potentially unsafe conditions caused by the burst sewage pipe.

The burst pipe is around 200 metres away from the bathing areas. The strong winds and westerly currents are increasing the risk of the sewage reaching the popular beaches.  Acosol are saying that work to repair the pipe (which passes through Avenida de las Palmeras) is going well.
