Record Rainfall Registered Near Malaga
Amateur meteorologists have recorded a record amount of rainfall during the recent DANA. Last Wednesday (13th November) 268mm of rain fell in Comares near Malaga between 8am and 4pm. This is double the largest amount of rainfall recorded at any time in the last 35 years. The rain and mud damaged 20 houses and swept through farms and orchards.
What Is A DANA?
DANA stands for Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos (Isolated Depression at High Levels). It is a weather phenomenon that can bring heavy rainfall and flooding, particularly in the eastern and southern regions. It occurs when a cut-off low-pressure system becomes slow-moving or stationary, leading to persistent rainfall in the affected areas.
