Hundreds Of Homes Evacuated As Floods Hit the Costa Del Sol
The Costa Del Sol has been hit by flooding following the arrival of Storm Lawrence last night when around 100mm of rainfall was recorded. 370 homes have been evacuated in the Campanillas area, along with 8 homes in the Cortijo Blanco area of Puerto Banus. The evacuations in Campanillas were carried out on Monday afternoon in anticipation of flooding.

Campanillas School Closures
The main residential areas affected in Campanillas are La Perla, La Isla, and La Hacienda. Residents took refuge in the local sports hall and in the seminary overnight. Francisco Quevedo Primary School and Torre del Prado Secondary School are closed today.

Flooding In Campanillas
The river flowing through Campanillas burst it’s banks during the night, leaving streets flooded and some agricultural land underwater. Emergency services have been working with residents to manage the situation, and no injuries have been reported at this stage. The Casola Dam which regulates this river is now at full capacity and controlled draining is taking place today.
