Rail Strikes Set To Cause Chaos on Friday

The last Friday in July is always one of the busiest days of the year for transport in Spain, as it is considered the official start of the summer holidays.  Tomorrow, railway workers have announced that they will be going on strike, which will cause major delays and chaos for travellers all over Spain.  Malaga airport is expected to be hit hard by the strikes, with delays likely at all major Costa Del Sol stations.

The strike will begin at midnight, and run until 11pm on Friday the 27th July.  Renfre have offered travellers replacement tickets if your train is cancelled, or a full refund.

In a statement, the union has said “The reasons that have led us to call this strike are not new, but the result of continued lack of response to collective fears over the uncertain future of the railways as a public service” .
