Calima Dust Cloud Coming Back On Friday
The calima is expected to come back to the Costa Del Sol on Friday (1st July). Spain’s national weather agency AEMET are saying that the impact of the dust cloud will be less severe than earlier this year, as there is unlikely to be any rain. The phenomenon known as “calima” is a haze caused by sand which has been blown from the Sahara desert. Visibility will be reduced slightly and things may appear hazy, but the chance of more sandy mud and rain is slim.
Earlier this year the calima was accompanied by heavy rain which caused the sand to be deposited as a muddy silt. This affected roads and visibility, and caused carnage with swimming pools and outdoor facilites.
The calima is likely to remain until Monday. The weather forecast is generally good, therefore the calima is not likely to cause any serious issues. Click here to see the latest weather forecast for the Costa Del Sol.
