Cat Colonies In Torremolinos To Be Reduced – stray cats are to be captured, dewormed, and sterilised in a bid to reduce their numbers and increase their health

Cat Colonies In Torremolinos To Be Reduced

Animal charities in Torremolinos are now involved in a programme to help the numerous stray cat colonies in the town.  The cats are reproducing at such a rate that they are posing a health threat to humans and other cats.  Over the next few weeks the cats will be caught and given veterinary treatment.  This will include deworming and sterilisation.

After their treatment, the stray cats will be released into areas away from populated places.  Here they will be provided with food and water to encourage them to stay.  Feeding stray cats is illegal, and members of the public who are caught could now face fines of €250.
