Final Lockdown Extension Approved
Spain’s parliament has approved the sixth and final extension to the state of alarm. The lockdown has been extended by another two weeks, and is due to end on the 21st June. During this final two week period, authority to ease the lockdown in areas which have moved to phase three will fall to local government. National government will retain control of borders, international travel, and movement between regions within Spain.
The Prime Minister described the easing of the lockdown as a “gradual, cautious and intelligent deescalation”. Pedro Sanchez added “We have overcome the worst of the pandemic”.
Andalucia is currently in phase two of the lockdown lifting plan. In Malaga the total confirmed number of coronavirus cases stands at 4536, with 287 people reported as losing their lives to the infection.
