Police in Fuengirola have confirmed that they are searching for a blond man believed to be responsible for a brutal double murder at Monaghans bar on the seafront on Saturday night.  Bar owner Ross Monaghan aged 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr aged 46 were both shot and killed at around 11pm as locals and tourists watched the UEFA cup final.

Police “Will Find The Culprit”

The forensic investigation team along with the National Police’s organised crime unit are now hunting for a blond man who entered the bar with a face covering, and fled the scene in a white car heading towards Benalmadena on the N-340.  Javier Salas, the central government’s deputy delegate in Malaga, said that they “will find the culprit”.  He told reporters that officers are gathering information and evidence from witnesses, along with CCTV recordings from Monaghans bar and other nearby businesses.

Mr. Salas says “I have no doubt that the person responsible for both murders, who arrived and left the pub on foot with his face covered, will be identified and located, as happens in 90% of cases that occur in the province of Malaga.”  Police haven’t ruled out the possibilty that more people were involved in planning and carrying out the murders, but confirmed that only one man is responsible for the shootings.
