Marbella Is Closing All Non Essential Businesses

The latest coronavirus incidence figures show a number of municipalities in Malaga Province have exceeded the 1000 infections per 100,000 people threshold.  This means that as well as closing the perimeter borders, all non-essential businesses will also be forced to close for at least 14 days.

The municipalities which will be closing non-essential businesses from midnight on Tuesday into Wednesday morning are:

  • Alhaurín de la Torre
  • Benarrabá
  • Casabermeja
  • Estepona
  • Manilva
  • Marbella
  • Mollina
  • Tolox
  • Villanueva del Rosario

Here is the complete list of municipalities in Malaga Province where non-essential businesses are closed:

Municipal Border Closures

Municipalities with infection numbers of more than 500 per 100,000 people have closed their borders.  Those in Malaga Province currently are:

  • Alhaurín el Grande

  • Álora
  • Alozaina
  • Archidona
  • Ardales

  • Benarrabá
  • Campillos
  • Cañete la Real
  • Canillas de Albaida
  • Carratraca
  • Cartajima
  • Cártam
  • Casabermeja
  • Coín
  • Comares
  • Cortes de la Frontera
  • El Borge
  • Estepona
  • Faraján
  • Fuengirola
  • Gaucín
  • Genalguacil
  • Humilladero
  • Igualeja

It is only be possible to enter or leave these municipalities for valid reasons.  These include professional and business reasons, medical appointments, legal appointments, and caring for dependants.  The Junta will modify the list of closed municipal borders every Monday and Thursday.

Alongside these municipal border closures, the other restrictions currently being enforced are:

  • All non-essential shops and businesses must close at 6pm
  • All bars, restaurants, and cafeterias to close at 6pm
  • Social gatherings limited to 4 people
  • Curfew in place from 10pm to 6am
