Torrential Rain And Gale Force Wind Coming To The Costa Del Sol

Spain’s national weather agency (AEMET) has issued two separate weather warnings for Tuesday and Wednesday on the Costa Del Sol.

On Tuesday (27th January) there’s a yellow weather warning for gale force 7 winds which could reach speeds of up to 70kmh, and torrential rain fall of 15mm an hour .  The warning is active from 6am until 10pm.

On Wednesday (28th January) the wind warning increases to the amber alert level.  Force 8 winds could batter the Costa Del Sol, reaching speeds of 80km/h.  Waves could reach heights of 4 metres as they batter the Costa Del Sol. There’s also a yellow warning for torrential rain on Wednesday, when 15mm of rain an hour could fall.  Both warnings are active from 6am until 10pm.

Amber: Be prepared. There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting people in the concerned area, which could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property.

Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
