Weight Limits For Mijas Donkey Riders

Animal rights campaigners are describing a rider weight limit for the Mijas donkeys as “a step in the right direction”.  From next year people who weigh more than 80kg will not be able to ride a donkey.

Earlier this year a similar proposal was quashed, when the measures were described as “excessive”.  However, PSOE Councillor Nicolas Cruz is pushing through these new regulations which will increase veterinary inspections, improve hygiene standards, and introduce the weight limit.

New Stables

The current stables where the donkeys are housed was built more than 60 years ago.  It’s expected that the new plans will include relocating the stables to a more modern facility.
