Wine And Beer Not Banned After 6pm
The new law introduced today in Andalucia which prohibits the sale of alcohol in shops and supermarkets after 6pm does not include beer and wine. The publication of the BOJA yesterday has limited the post-6pm sales ban to drinks with more than 21% alcohol by volume.
The ban on alcohol sales after 6pm is designed to reduce street drinking and house parties. Reactions to the final version of the new law have been mixed, with some support from the hotel and hospitality sectors but disbelief from many residential quarters.
Sharon Flude from Torremolinos can’t understand why only drinks with more than 21% alcohol by volume are prohibited. “I can go to the shop at 8pm and buy ten bottles of wine. But I can’t go into the same shop at 8pm and buy a quarter bottle of vodka. It doesn’t make any sense to me at all”.
