Boardwalk Collapses At La Cala De Mijas. A section of the boardwalk near La Cala has been swept onto the beach by a landslide exposing apartment building’s foundations.
Boardwalk Collapses At La Cala De Mijas
A section of the boardwalk at Torrenueva near La Cala De Mijas has been swept onto the beach by a landslide, exposing an apartment building’s foundations. Firefighters and police attended this scene at 7am on Monday 16th September to make the area safe.
A section of boardwalk was sept onto the beach by the landslide.
The landslide was caused by a water leak in the apartment block which erroded the soil leading to the landslide. The council will liase with the building’s insurance company to have the damage repaired and the boardwalk restored.
Police have closed the boardwalk.
The apartment building is thought to be safe with no structural damage reported.
Despite the dramatic appearance of the foundations of an apartment building there is not thought to be any structural damage or risk of collapse. No injuries have been reported.
