Amber Warnings For Heat On The Costa Del Sol. The weather warnings for high heat have been increased to the amber level on Thursday and Friday.

Amber Warnings For Heat On The Costa Del Sol

The heat warnings from AEMET (Spain’s national weather agency) have been increased to the amber level on the Costa Del Sol. The warnings are in place on Thursday (23rd July), also Friday (24th July) and are active between 1pm and 9pm on each day. Temperatures are expected to reach 42c on the coast, and between 42c and 44c inland around Coin, Ronda, and Casares.

High temperatures can potentially pose a risk to people, and pet owners are being reminded to provide shade and water for their animals. There is also an increased risk of fires which have been known to devastate areas of the Costa Del Sol.

Emergency services are on standby to deal with fires caused by the high temperatures.

Types Of Weather Warnings

Yellow: Be aware. Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect people in the concerned area. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day-to-day activities.

Amber: Be prepared. There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting people in the concerned area, which could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property.

Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
